Located in Salazie, one of the three cirques (an amphitheatre-like valley formed by glacial erosion according to wiki) on the island, Hell-Bourg is the first inland village I've visited in Réunion. This pretty little village is what used to be a spa town located 1344m above sea level.
The journey was amazing. We took the no. 83 bus from Saint André station, taking us directly there. On our way, we witnessed the beautiful and breathtaking views of the mountains and even caught a glimpse of the 'Trou de Fer' waterfalls.
Hell-Bourg itself was beautiful, with cute and quaint traditional creole houses on every street. We also took a visit to the waterfalls 'les trois cascades'.
It was a calm and relaxing day. Hell-Bourg may not have a lot to do but the views are pretty and there are a couple of museums to visit if you want to spend the whole day there.
