Saint-Gilles Waterfalls

Today my parents and I decided to visit the waterfalls just outside Saint-Gilles, a 5 minute drive from our AirBNB in Saline-Les-Bains. We parked our car on the side of the road and made our way towards Bassin des Aigrettes.

The journey there was great fun, walking alongside the running water and in amongst the trees. At one point the journey is perhaps complicated. You must climb off the wall into the water, and climb under the metal gate. Then wade through the water until you get to a suitable point to climb back up. However personally, once you've seen other people do it, it's too hard.

Bassin des Aigrettes is DEFINITELY worth the visit. It is perhaps the largest and most powerful waterfalls I've seen, and it really is stunning. My parents and I even had a little swim!

We followed this by retracing our steps, but at the point where we would walk back up to the car, we chose to walk down, toward the signed 'snack bar' and past the Jace artwork. This is where Bassin des Cormorans is situated. After walking past the erm questionable snack bar, there was a fair bit of scrambling down some rocks to get to the bassin. This was also very pretty, however we didn't feel comfortable taking a dip because of all the algae. Nevertheless a beautiful bassin.

We finished our trip by going to the snack bar situated on the side of the road near where we had parked our car.
