I woke up at 6:30 this morning ready for our hike starting at 7:00. Pic Adam was our destination, and there were about 30 of us on this organised trail.
We begun at the campus and took a bus (24) as high as we could go in the neighbourhood of Moufia / Sainte-Clotilde. Clearly, the bus couldn't take us right to the top, so we walked for about half an hour along the winding roads.
We had reached the beginning of our hike. We trekked through woodlands to begin with, protected by the shade of the trees. And then we started going up, up, up, hearing the trickle of water from the occasional streams.
Eventually we reached our destination! We were higher than Mount. Snowdon, Wales. Then we continued our walk for another hour or so to the other viewpoint where we could see the whole of Saint Denis (Réunions' capital). Here the views were so spectacular and it was possible to take in this concept that I'm actually on a small island. From left to right there was the Indian ocean.
Our journey ended with a hike down back to the bus stop and in total it probably took 4 hours with the occasional water stop.
A hike I would definitely recommend; challenging but also rewarding and enjoyable.
